Myarandel

Located in the centre of the Merlandian Asteroid Group in the Cerulean Quadrant of the Denubian Galaxy, Myarandel is well protected by the asteroids and is surrounded by five other smaller planets, which serve as moons and mining facilities.

There are 86,400,000 Galvesh citizens living in the city blocks that form the Myarandyrr cities, including immigrants and permanent merchants, Alyndral, Mag’dean, Eisheth, Var’mour, Brärbane and Deh’thras. Aside from these centres, there are only very few farm lands and mines in the outskirts of the cities. The first twenty Fiefs, due to their nobility and wealth are the only individuals who are allowed to own land and live in houses; which are located just outside of the cities. Other citizens live and work on the five moons, controlled by the first Five Fiefs. Aside from these, there are only three large beach/cottage resorts, Freth’lyn, Rethzas and Yurenberg by Sequeth Ocean to the south of the cities.

This building plan was formed by Mauld Impruss, after Hawk Fäulkhøn found Myarandel in his wanderings. Mauld, knowing that the Galvesh situation in the Milky Way Galaxy living amidst the humans on a ruined planet called Planet Drule Two, was severely jeopardised, he decided to bring about a change for his race.

Myarandel was constructed using the hidden stored money from the original Planet Drule by a wizard of known repute, though his location is unknown to all. It is fabled that only something of grand importance or a dire need will summon him forth. It is not known how Mauld located this wizard, only that he was found and built all six Galvesh cities on Myarandel out of glass. Given its magical property, the each of the buildings is nearly indestructible, standing at 400 storeys in height.

This was another choice made by Mauld, who was loath to mar the planet. Like all Galvesh, the destruction of Planet Drule had scared him emotionally and the Galvesh learned to appreciate where they lived and care for it. The six cities were built close to the equatorial line an hour flight from one of the Myarandyrr oceans, and instead of sprawling out, they went up. Each city measures only 600 km2 and 1000 km2 in total – this number includes the complete sewer network. The plan was to build a waste system that would bring as little pollution as it was possible to the planet and the cities were in turn built upon that. Aside from the Aero-Navy, nothing has underground facilities. However, in the case of emergency, the sewers, meticulously kept and cleaned daily, can offer a safe harbour to most of the population. Plans of expansion to save the entire race suffering the need of such have not yet been accomplished.

With two suns, Myarandel still has two great icecaps at the southern and northern hemispheres, where the two blazing orbs’ orbits do not affect the planet as strongly as the equatorial line. Temperatures at the equator, however, do not surpass 35°C and does not drop below 25°C. Life is composed of numerous species of flora and fauna. There is only one known type of predator that threatens the cities, but they have been chased out and are carefully monitored and disencouraged from returning – a species of mole-like bipeds of great proportions and boasting a plate-like exoskeleton. Their powerful muscles and talons can tear through most materials.

The economy of Myarandel is strong and there is no poverty on Myarandel or her sister planets. A welfare system is in place though it has never been utilised. There is also no private property aside from the Fiefs and those can only be afforded by the extremely wealthy. Housing, or apartment units in the 400 storey high buildings were given to each individual or family and besides maintenance fees, there is no other cost. The property belongs to the Dominion and the Galvesh citizens are the Dominion. The only exception in this case is the stores in the malls, where the spaces are rented to merchants. Private entrepreneurs are also encouraged and are often supplied with enough capita to commence and launch their endeavours.

There are several schools in all the blocks and finally the Galvesh Academies; two per city. Candidates are free to make their choices, except for orphans who are sent to Phayn’Thereb, the Aero-Navy Academy. However, those who show no aptitude in such career, are re-evaluated and assessed and sent to the Academy most suitable. The Galvesh does not believe in unemployment and that every individual should contribute to society.

The transportation system is effective and fast. A system of hovers running on tracks about ten feet off the ground connects all the buildings in the blocks as well as one block to another. Personal vehicles are used on the streets, though those are not frequent and have to abide a set speed limit. Generally the streets are littered with pedestrian traffic, who enjoy the tranquillity of the outdoors and the ‘easy’ life afforded them by the opulence of the Luminous Dominion.

The Galvesh have several entertainment and conveniences to choose from. Their parks are carefully tended and bands play their ditties in the green. Concert and theatre halls, clubs, discothèques and opera houses are scattered in abundance throughout the blocks, each performing their own show, as well as restaurants catering to practically any taste and offering the option of foods from anywhere in the Denubian Galaxy as well as human menu. Public houses of all styles, choices and moods also dot the blocks.
