Juno
Juno is a planet that knows nothing more than perpetual winter. It is relatively too far from any sun to be granted heat, but it is close enough to support life. Its core is also very warm, reaching exceedingly high temperatures, and thus enabling Juno to produce aliments for the life that lives there. Farming is a rather tricky process, requiring the populace to dig deep fissures where they can plant and harvest crops for both their consumption and livestock. It is a planet containing tough people used to adaptations. Once, Juno had been closer to a sun, but it had, somehow, lost its orbit and began floating off into space. It is a very gradual process and the people knew they were doomed once they lost their gravity, but still they faced their trials with heads raised high and with a good outlook in life.
The first thing that arrived was the cold. The weakest died, the survivors became quite strong and their skin toughened against the winter, their hair grew longer and thicker and their eyes slanted as a protection against the wind. Soon, the frosty season was divided into soft, mild, cold and bitter; the latter being the only time they withdrew from the outdoors and sought shelter.
Besides this awkward agriculture, Juno has only one other resource and that is fuel. Possessing nothing else, the only means of transportation are old, decommissioned ships the Alliance sold to them for cheap. There is no metal on Juno. In fact, Junosians are rather fascinated by it and quite ignorant to it.
Due to extreme amounts of snow, the Junosians’ physiology began to adapt in other ways; their legs lengthened, making it easier for them to tread through the deep mounds and as a result they grew taller. Their skin also paled to a disturbing alabaster, their hair to ivory and their eyes faded to crimson.
The indigenous animals of the planet also shared this bizarre transformation. Needless to say, they all possessed thick, white furs and were hunted for both food and pelt. This gave the Junosians a phantasmagorical look, being albinos and clad in intricate designs of white fur.
Juno is ruled by Her Most Exalted Queen Sa’ar Fluerdelieu, who is not, by Junosian standards, the most attractive species of the fair sex. She is not tall or lithe enough. Her eyes are wider and her mouth fuller. However, to anyone else besides a Junosian, she is quite exceptional and exotic.
