Background:

Beatrice was a rather happy baby. She rarely cried and often wandered off on her own in search of adventure. Like her father, she was born with wild Psionic talents that nearly drove her mother into the brink of insanity; particularly when the child would perform Dimension Slides unknowingly – as for instance when she was asleep and thought of food and would wake up in a refrigerator. Aside from this, the only other talent Beatrice seems to possess is Empathy, like both parents, and a very weak Telepathy. She also has her mother’s ‘chameleon’ ability to change her eyes and hair colours, but seldom uses them, choosing to keep that a secret to work better for her advantage.

As she grew older, she began to present more and more of Mauld’s traits. She could weave complex systems of plots to cover her mischief in which, at the end, left most so confused over what actually had happened that they rarely would bother to investigate to the very end. Shaziah, however, having dealt with Mauld for many years, saw through most of them.

Beatrice, despite her independence and conniving mind, was always extremely loving to her mother and sister; especially her younger sister. Due to Shaziah’s intense control of her heartbeat during her gestation period, to foil an assassination attempt, it proved drastically riskier to her unborn daughters than expected:  Cassia was severely affected by a lack of oxygen to the brain, and has the mental age of a much younger child.  Beatrice maintains that Cassia made this happen deliberately to protect her sister, because otherwise they both would have been affected (proving Cassia’s Psionic links).

She never really knew the sense of home, being always on the run with her mother. She vaguely understood that her life was in danger if she was found by those who wished her parents dead, but never fully comprehended the implications. Beatrice was the kind of child that was constantly surprising her mother, or scaring her to death, since she had no notion what fear meant, a strange trait also inherited from the Mischur blood.

Growing up among the Traders, she learned how to fight and wield weapons. Her primary choice being the wrist blades – the Traders trademark weapon – a vambrace which accommodates a single hidden blade that can be deployed by a quick twist of the wrists. However, as adept as she became with them, her aim at ranged weapons is poor unless she uses a wrist crossbow (though she does not know how to concoct poisons to make the small arrows effective).

She has a passion for ships and this led her to become the captain of one upon her mother’s and sister’s accidental death during a trading mission. Disheartened and quite sad by the situation, she left the Traders and was drawn into the shadier aspect of ‘trading’. Joining the pirates revealed much to her, in particular who Mauld Impruss truly was.

Beatrice has a strong sense of leadership and could be called cruel. She has some of her mother’s calmer disposition, but is more often responding to a darker trait. In several occasions while growing up, she showed a keen sense of being able to destroy another life; particularly if she thought that Cassia was in danger. To Beatrice, her sister’s ‘sacrifice’ is a debt she will never be able to repay. She has never had a reason, or opportunity, to kill, but it is apparent that if such circumstance rose, she would be perfectly capable of conducting such endeavour.

Her desire is to pursue the mission her father abandoned: lead the Galvesh

She’s very playful and often amused. The perpetual smirk on her lips is her trademark. She is cheerful and often tries to make everyone around her happy (if they seem upset). She is willing to learn whatever anyone wants to teach her and is fascinated by history.
